10/28/23 Inflatable Coffin

Updated: Jul 7

Ok, this one is scary. I woke myself up at 5:15AM this morning by "running" in my sleep. My heart was racing.

It was a dream that started off innocent and fun, even magical. I was hanging out with a crew, in a town sort of like where my friends in high school and I hung out. That part is a little blurry. All I know is, my girlfriend from upstate NY was there, and my girlfriend from high school too. They were close friends in the dream. Also, somehow, my thing was to fly through doorways, maybe with the assistance of a small bicycle contraption? I was having fun flying sideways through the doors. At some point in the dream, we were all having a house party. It's weirdly at my co-yoga teacher trainee's place. I was called into the house by the two girls, who were sitting on an L-shaped couch in front of the TV. There was a dim light on, and a CD collection which they let me know may have fallen down and broken. They mentioned I had bumped into it when I flew through the door the last time. They said that it wasn't that big of a deal but it might have caused a small spark in the CD player and "burned the CD's". One of the girls wanted to make sure we paid for the damage together, and she was figuring out the bill which came to about $80 (this number flashed on the TV screen as she figured out the math). My other girlfriend was smiling, and one of them was a little bit high. It was light spirits. I offered to pay the whole bill, and they said "no, dont worry, we can split it 3 ways." The problem was solved.

Then, I noticed a tall shelf in the room which had a collection of shitty B movies stacked on it. Not the full movies though, just previews. They were all in VHS cases, and there were various covers such as that one movie about an innocent guy with a monstrous looking face. I think it was called Mask. Really silly ones. Then, I saw a black and white cover with an aerial shot of an inflatable coffin in a lit up swimming pool. I grabbed it- and the moment my hand touched the VHS tape, I was transported into the preview itself.

It took my brain a moment to register what was going on and where I was. I realized I was the main character of the preview. I was living it. From my POV, I was loading up plastic bags stuffed with something into larger plastic bags. I turned and saw into an open door of a pool house in the distance. Everything was really dark and dim. In the pool house, I could make out an inflated, large coffin - like the one on the cover of the VHS - a floating pool accessory. The lid was open, just enough that I could see a reddish pink, subtly luminescent side profile of a face in the coffin. It almost looked like it was made of TV fuzz. All of a sudden, I heard a multi-octave, all-encompassing voice exclaim, "...Michaellll??..." which was apparently my name. Again, it repeated ".....MICHAELLL??" in a mimicking tone. I didn't respond, but frantically stuffed another plastic bag of something into another larger plastic bag and tied it shut. I don't remember what else the voice was saying, but the overall vibe was that it knew I was stealing, and it may have been telepathically communicating with me. I knew it was going to come after me, so I took off running. It was all dark, and I was running fast. That's when, in waking life, my legs were moving as I slept as if I was really running. The voice said, "I'm getting closerrr!" in a mocking way. "I'm going to get you!"in a slow, evil voice. And I knew that no matter how fast I ran, the demon was going to catch up with me. At that point, in real life, my feet were kicking super fast and since I was in the bed with my husband, he started to wake up. Right as I felt the demon's hand on my ankle, and I knew the pinkish red ghoul had got me, I woke up. My heart was racing super fast and I was panicking. My husband said, "Man, you were twitching like crazy!" I said "I was running away."

Note: This is the first vivid dream I had after giving up THC. It's some suppressed stuff for SURE.
